Worship schedule -

Due to COVID-19 we do not have worship together this Sunday.

I have taped our sermon and have attached a Guided Worship service for you to follow along.

PRAYER

Start your time with a moment of silence. Think of all the people who you love; then all the people you miss; now think of everyone who is affected by this pandemic (i.e. people out of a job, stay-at-home parents, kids out of school, health care workers, people who have lung issues and compromised immune situations). End this time with the Lord’s Prayer …

SINGING

            If you have a voice like mine, go to the bathroom and sing this song all-by-yourself; so, no one will hear you. Otherwise, sing as a family; or just read it together.

1 There's a wideness in God's mercy,
like the wideness of the sea;
there's a kindness in his justice
which is more than liberty.

2 There is no place where earth's sorrows
are more keenly felt than heaven:
there is no place where earth's failings
have such gracious judgement given.

3 If our love were but more simple,
we should take him at his word;
and our lives would be illumined,
by the glory of the Lord.

SERMON

            The sermon will be uploaded onto the internet by Sunday morning. You can access the sermon by two ways. 1) www.geringumc.org and then click on the sermon link. It will be the latest sermon and will be titled “The Power of Forgiveness.” Or 2) www.youtube.com and then click on the search bar with these words: Who is this man? The Power of Forgiveness.

            Just for fun, take a picture of you watching the sermon on-line and send it to geringumc@gmail.com or to my cell phone at (308) 430-1771.

OFFERING

            If you still are fortunate to have a job in these times or are still receiving income, now is the time to thank God for your blessings. You can click on the giving tab on our website or you can send in your offering to the church office. The address is located at the top of this letter.

BENEDICTION

            Read this prayer together.

(Prayer for a Pandemic By Cameron Bellm)

May we who are merely inconvenienced Remember those whose lives are at stake. May we who have no risk factors Remember those most vulnerable. May we who have the luxury of working from home Remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent. May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close Remember those who have no options. May we who have to cancel our trips Remember those that have no safe place to go. May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market Remember those who have no margin at all. May we who settle in for a quarantine at home Remember those who have no home. As fear grips our country, let us choose love. During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors. Amen.
